Last week's powerful message challenges us to examine what we're holding onto that prevents us from fully embracing God's mission for our lives. Drawing from the Great Commission in Matthew 28, we're reminded that Jesus calls us to go into all nations, make disciples, and trust that He is with us always. The sermon weaves together the inspiring story of Nehemiah—who surrendered his prestigious position as cupbearer to rebuild Jerusalem's walls—with the modern-day work happening in Tanzania through New Hope Community Center. Just as Nehemiah's heart broke for his people living in shame and vulnerability, we're invited to consider what breaks our hearts and how God might be calling us to respond. The message of surrender isn't about deprivation but about opening our hands so God can fill them with something greater. Whether it's financial resources, time, talents, or long-held dreams and past hurts, we're encouraged to lay down the rocks we've been carrying and trust that God will meet our needs according to His riches in glory. The parable of the ten minas reminds us that God has given each of us gifts—not to bury them in fear, but to multiply them for His kingdom. When we surrender what we think is important, that's when miracles happen and life gets truly good.
